My long weekend food trip

My long weekend last year was quite boring. I just went to my hometown in Cebu, watched TV, and then slept for 4 days. But this year, I did something unusual during my long weekend vacay. I went to random places in the Metro Manila, tried some restaurants that I haven’t tried before.

My first stop was Wing Stop, in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. I tried two flavors, the Classic Louisiana Rub and Buttered Lemon Pepper. I loved both! They taste better than Bonchon. The chicken was crispy and both the lemon pepper + louisiana rub flavor is soooo good! I’m want to try their other flavors, but I’m already full. My friends John and Timmy was also with me during my trip to BGC. And oh, don’t forget to check your receipt if you dine at Wingstop, because you can get free 5pcs classic wings on your next visit, if you… just check your receipt! And also, check this page out for other discounts and coupons that you might like (not related to Wingstop, but I just want to share).

Kambingan ni Mang Ben

Kambingan ni Mang Ben
There’s this famous goat meat restaurant in Sauyo, Novaliches QC, but it’s far from where we live. Me, Natasha and Shelly craved for goat meat yesterday and we don’t want to travel to QC due to trafficophobia—the fear of getting stuck in the Metro Manila traffic. If you love goat meat and you’re craving for it and you live in Manila, then there’s a near, recently opened food shop just along M.Naval street in Navotas called Kambingan ni Mang Ben. Kambingan ni Mang Ben is inspired by Kambingan ni Tsong, according to what I heard from someone who loves goat meat. Both cook goat meat the way that you’re taste buds will crave for more.

DADS Ultimate Buffet: A true haven for foodies

DADS Ultimate Buffet is perhaps one of the few restaurants in the Philippines that offer authentic Filipino, American, and Japanese cooking. Most of the time, restaurants that offer a variety of cuisines don’t succeed because they fail to produce signature dishes that will make the restaurant well-known. However, DADS Ultimate Buffet has been in operation since the 90s and its wide variety of scrumptious, novel dishes are still being appreciated by the people and professional food journalists alike. To the uninitiated, DADS Ultimate Buffet is a fusion of 3 of the best restaurants in Manila. It serves Filipino, American, and Japanese dishes. With its great-tasting food, more than 200 dishes to choose from, and a price that’s not unreasonable for an eat-all-you-can scenario, DADS Ultimate Buffet is every connoisseur’s escape to a world of flavors.

Manang's Chicken-500px

I got a gift certificate from Manang’s Chicken in the mail today. After I got over the excitement of actually being able to touch my correspondence, I got all worked up again thinking of a decent-sized deep-fried pork chop sitting beside a cup of white rice that is supposedly all mine – for free! I gave the paper a cursory glance to assure myself that I’m not being taken for a ride, and then heeded the lure of flavorful meat, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, and starch. Off I went to Glorietta 4, braving Makati traffic on a busy Saturday afternoon in this bipolar weather. I figured even with the extortionate parking fee, I’m still saving money because of the free lunch. Besides, I needed a new pen.

Making Restaurant Hunting Easy: Zomato on iPhone

Thursday, November 22nd, 2012

Everyone feel a bit irked when our friends can’t decide where to eat, and they end up spending thirty minutes to an hour just arguing and going through our choices. More often than not, this results in them going back to eating at the same place for lunch every day, and when they do decide to “try something new”, they end up visiting some other restaurant that they haven’t visited in a while. It’s different, but by no means is it new.

Luckily, just about everyone has a smartphone now, and this amazing device has helped millions of foodies across the world. Gaming Realms, the company behind that recently launched Spin Genie, has said that “There were an estimated 1 billion Smartphone users at the end of 2012, representing 17% of total mobile users”, and this figure has continually grown. Studies even show that by 2015, there could be close to 2 billion smartphone users. In the Philippines, with cheaper smartphone lines like MyPhone and Cherry Mobile available, the smartphone penetration rate is expected to hit 50% by 2015.
