It’s funny that we decided to eat at Army Navy for our last dinner in Tagaytay when there are tons of Army Navy restaurants back in Manila.

For the record though, it wasn’t our first choice. We were already lined up outside Buon Giorno, which was literally filled to the brim, when the group agreed to move elsewhere.

Hello, Army Navy

And so we drove next door to a not-so-busy Army Navy nook.

I will always have a soft spot for Army Navy because of how awesomely-filling their burgers and burritos are. It, however, is not something that I’ll eat regularly–perhaps three visits a month will do it for me. If I were a boy, it’d be a completely different story though.

We were pretty lucky that we were first to line up before this group of tourists. I don’t like lining up and waiting for food–thankyouverymuch.

Quesadilla!

So what did I order? My favorite Quesadilla, of course! I’m a sucker for anything that it toasted and has cheese. This may sound weird, but I’d choose this over a burger any time, any day.

Served hot and fresh, this is a great option for those who doesn’t want to wolf down the chain’s carbo-loaded burgers.

Freedom Fries!

What’s a trip to Army Navy without their infamous Freedom Fries? Even without dipping it in ketchup, their fries are already packed with flavor, don’t you think? It reminds me a lot of KFC’s fries too. Although Army Navy still wins by a mile in terms of portions.

Sure, we may have gone down the safe route by dining at Army Navy. BUT the branches in Makati don’t offer the same chilly breeze that comes with the Tagaytay branch, right?

The Galleon Food Avenue is where I usually go to buy lunch. I have seen a number of food stalls come and go because I can only imagine how expensive it must be to run a small business in a building–in Makati, especially!

I don’t need to see how much it really costs to rent a spot to know that. Green Tomato, for example, was a favorite of mine. I thought they were doing good financially but its stall in The Galleon disappeared, leaving my pasta cravings all weepy and sad. I can’t be sure though if it was indeed financial strains that drove them away.

There’s this fairly new food stall in The Galleon called Sumo Dog, a “hotdog” joint sans the hotdog. They serve sausages with a Japanese twist. I’ve never seen someone actually buying something from them so I got curious. I wondered if they were serving overpriced or just plain bad meals. I gave the food stall a chance one Monday afternoon and tried something off their menu.

Just four?

I quickly noticed how limited their menu is. Look, they only have four (!) items there. I get easily overwhelmed with too many options, but this one is just way too few a menu–I hope they add more!

Mine's the bigger one

Lucky for me I had my phone with me so I decided to take pictures of our precious sausages being cooked. Funny how we watched my officemate’s hungarian sausage “deflate” as it cooked. Anyway, I chose the Oroshi. It has Bratwurst Sausage (the one on the left), white radish, green onions and a special soy sauce.

The sausage on the right is my officemate’s Okonomi. If you like the other ingredients but don’t like a particular sausage that goes with it, you can ask them to replace the original sausage with whatever it is you prefer. Just like my officemate who chose the Hungarian sausage instead of the Schublig sausage.

The two kuya's preparing our 'dogs!

I was told that their sausages used to go for 100+ but I myself think it’s a little steep. Especially when you’re among other food vendors that can offer so much more for 100+.

This isn't making you hungry, no?

So here’s my take-away Oroshi, which comes with iced tea, by the way. The white radish (freshly grated) aroma reeks so bad. I had to pretend it wasn’t my plastic bag that smelled funny when I was in the elevator. It doesn’t look too appetizing, I know. Probably because of the lack of color–they didn’t have green onions that day so boo.

I took a bite and thought that it wasn’t too bad. But then I realized how soggy the bun has become because of the “special sauce”. I couldn’t eat through all that mush so I ate the sausage on its own. The sausage was good on its own. Maybe I should have paired this with rice instead of a hotdog bun.

My officemate’s sausage, meanwhile, was good. I should have ordered the same. Good thing I had a broccoli and cheese soup to down my bitterness away.

When you say ‘sulit meals’ in the Philippines, the usual serving is one cup of rice, two tablespoons of the viand and a side dish. This is in the Philippine setting, which is not really sulit at all. In reality, it is madaya LOL

Big Daddy's Chicken Meals

A few weeks ago, Bong and Yuri invited a few bloggers to check out Big Daddy’s Chicken. The name of the place actually sounded familiar. Later on, i found out that they have a branch in Theater Mall Greenhills. I arrived late that’s why I missed the fun game part. I am not late for the dinner part though

Chicken Chop with Creamy Pasta

When I saw the meal servings, i have to admit that i was a bit shocked. Why? Because the meal serving is really big for a price lower than a hundred bucks. The Chicken Chop is a real winner. It’s cooked the right way and the Creamy Pasta is just perfect that i finished it all in five minutes

Iced Green Tea for me

The Iced Green Tea as my drink made me happy. I loved the combination!

Chicken Chop + Rice + Soup = Php 80 only!

I am a certified Patay Gutom, but i actually gave up on the big size of the Chicken Chops 0_0. I can’t help but remember the big servings of fastfood meals in other Asian countries. Apparently, the owners liked the idea of serving large portions of meals in a very affordable price when they saw one in Taiwan. I actually admire these young entrepreneurs who are willing to take risks in launching a ‘new’ concept of food business such as this one without risking the quality of the food.

Spiral Potato, anyone?

BIG DADDY’S CHICKEN certainly defined what ‘sulit’ truly means! I would like to suggest though if they can also prepare some ‘Kiddie Meals’ since kids really love chicken.

You can visit Big Daddy’s Chicken at Theater Mall (G/F Food Court Area) and it’s newly-opened branch in SM Mall of Asia (G/F Entertainment Mall beside Toby’s).

For the past ten years, the Jollibee Burger Steak me has been my top favorite among all the Jollibee products. I just find the price very reasonable and the taste is really good!

Last week, I went to a nearby Jollibee branch for a quick dinner and I only have Php 150 left in my pocket. The counter girl informed me that they’re only serving the Chicken meals since they’re about to close. I saw the newest product of the food chain called the Jollibee Chicken Barbeque. Out of curiosity, I ordered the said meal.

The sauce is the real winner here! To be honest, I am not a fan of Chicken Barbeque. I wasn’t expecting much from this meal. I am not sure if i was only lucky because the meal was served hot, but this new product surpassed by expectations. The signature juicy chicken is still there yet the barbequed skin is tasty. Again, I am not sure if i was only lucky that night. I wonder how it tastes like on normal servings.

Have you tried this new offering of Jollibee? Mind to share your Chicken BBQ experience?

Me and other bloggers had dinner at Fuzion Smoothie Cafe in Greenbelt after the successful event from Globe.

Beside Sago is Fuzion’s Tropical Iced Tea Slush (59PHP)

My i.ph sister Cai Abbass had an Egg Mayo Sandwich (99PHP w/o fries)

Dagupena Dreamer and another i.ph sister Micamyx had Bangus Belly Barbeque (149PHP)

And as for me, I had Korean Braised Beef (199PHP)

All the dishes were yummy. I even had to share my flavorful Korean Braised Beef to other bloggers because I can’t finish all of it. Other bloggers with me also enjoyed the cozy area of Fuzion at their Greenbelt branch. NYOK.

Hungry for shawarma at 2 o’clock in the morning? If you’re in Malate or in Paranaque, then there’s always Shawarma Snack Center (or SSC for short).

This very simple restaurant is one of the best places to fulfill your shawarma cravings anytime and any day – just like what this PG respondent did one night.

Aside from their shawarma, one of their must try food is the Qurma Beef which is like Beef Kaldereta. Very tasty and the serving is very generous. Get ready to order extra rice!

Or if you’re craving for longsilog, then why not just try a similar dish called Cielo Kabab which comes with grilled tomatoes and arabic rice.

Hungry for more? Then head on over to SSC and taste their other great dishes. Who knows, you might see me there having some midnight snack. Nom nom!

This Shawarma Snack Center branch is located at Presidents Avenue, Brgy. BF Homes, Paranaque City. They’re open 24 hours.

Sorry for the not so good photo of the signage. I was so full and beginning to feel sleepy. Nyok!

If you’ve been to McKinley Hill in The Fort, I’m sure you’ll notice the long line of people over at One World Square building. No, they’re not in line to get inside their office, but rather waiting for their turn to get a sandwich over at The Sandwich Guy.

The place is a simple nook with only a couple of chairs outside. Most of their clients here have their sandwiches on the go. Here’s a shot of the place:

I went inside and ordered for myself one of their bestsellers – The TSG Bigtime. This sandwich sells for only a P100 and you’ll have a double decker sandwich with your choice of 3 delis and 2 slices of cheese. I chose bacon, ham and chicken.

I thought that the sandwich would be a great snack but instead, I felt like I had a second lunch that day. It was tasty and well worth the money I paid for.

Aside from sandwiches, they also have salads, pasta and this bottled black gulaman which I first thought was a bottle of soy sauce. Nyok!

The Sandwich Guy at McKinley is open 24 hours and also delivers for a minimum order of 1,000 bucks. Check out their website to learn more about them – thesandwichguy.com.

That’s it, this is PG Respondent, Fitz inviting you to try The Sandwich Guy. Chomp!
