Pancit Cabagan and G&B Buko Pie

I was browsing my Flickr account earlier today looking for some pictures I uploaded from my old buddy Kodak’s memory card. I was able to look at about 100+ photos I took from my backpacking trip in Nueva Vizcaya last 2008. And hey, I was surprised to see these 3 photos that made my travel in Vizcaya memorable.

From the first time I stepped foot in the province, many locals have told me to try pancit Cabagan which popular among local and foreign tourists. This stir-fried noodle dish is originally from Isabela comes with dark sauce, eggs, veggies and meat.

I don’t know the secret ingredient to this, but it was really yummy! Unlike other common pancit recipes, pancit Cabagan is is not dry and the ingredients blend together really well with the well-cooked noodles. Up to now, whenever I think of pancit Cabagan, I always think that the secret to its delicious taste lies in that sauce.

After having my first pancit Cabagan in Nueva Vizcaya, I bought box of the famous G&B Buko Pie. This is the best buko pie I have tasted so far!

Located along Maharlika Highway Brgy. Tuao Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya, this yummy Proudly Vizcayano buko pie has a distinctive taste that once you take a bite, it melts in your mouth immediately. Their secret ingredient? Nope. Can’t tell, I don’t know either. But based on my expert taste buds, the secret to this buko pie is…

Whew, these are really yummy looking goodies.

Once upon a time, I visited my relatives in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. I wanted to try something different, so with my friends, we dediced to go back to Manila via Cagayan, Isabela etc.

It was one of the best experience I had in a long time. Eating local foods, the friendly locals, the hot summer of Cagayan Valley. Of all the goodies, I remember very well the buco pie of Isabela, the espasol of Munoz, Nueva Ecija, the ube and strawberry jam in Banaue and Neva Viscaya (mas masarap kesa sa Baguio)

Travelling around made me realize the many treasures of the Philippines. Now if only we can have those amenities available (clean toilet, good road) and make these trips/tours around the Philippines cheaper, then the tourist industry is ready to hit the top.
